Steep and Mountain Roads
- On steep and mountain roads, if vehicles of the same type cannot pass each other:
- The vehicle going downhill must back up, unless the other vehicle is close to a passing place.
Narrow Roads Right of Way
- On narrow roads where crossing is not possible:
- Trailer trucks have the right of way over other vehicles.
- Heavy motor vehicles have the right of way over light vehicles.
- Company cars have the right of way over trucks.
Driving on Steep and Mountain Roads
- On steep gradients and mountain roads, drivers must ensure that the brakes are not overloaded.
- If heavy motor vehicles are closely following each other and crossing is difficult, drivers should alert oncoming traffic about the vehicles behind them.
- When crossing and overtaking is challenging, drivers must adhere to the signs and instructions of drivers in regular service.
- The signals “Dangerous slope” and “Steep slope” warn of sections with a slope of at least 10 percent, indicating the maximum incline.
- The signal “Mountain post road” indicates roads where drivers must follow the instructions of public transport drivers during difficult crossing situations. This duty ends with the signal “End of mountain post road.”
