Steep roads and mountain roads

On steep roads and mountain roads, if vehicles of the same type cannot cross, the one going downhill must back up, unless the other is close to a passing place.

STEEP ROADS AND MOUNTAIN ROADS

If crossing is not possible on narrow roads, trailer trucks have the right of way over other vehicles, heavy motor vehicles over light ones and company cars over trucks.

On roads with steep gradients and on mountain roads, driving must be done in such a way that the brakes are not overloaded.

On mountain roads, if heavy motor vehicles follow each other in close succession and crossing is difficult, their drivers must draw the attention of oncoming traffic to the following vehicles.

On mountain roads, when crossing and overtaking is difficult, drivers must follow the signs and instructions of the drivers of vehicles in regular service.

The signals “Dangerous slope” and “Steep slope” warn of stretches of road with a slope or incline of at least 10 percent; the signals indicate the greatest slope or incline of the stretch of road

The signal “Mountain post road” indicates roads on which the driver must obey the signs and instructions of drivers of vehicles in regular public transport in case of difficult crossing and overtaking. Where this duty ends, there is the signal “End of mountain post road”.
