Signs and instructions from the police

The signs and instructions of the police, the military traffic authorities, the uniformed members of the fire department and the civil defense, the marked members of the school, works and cadet traffic services, the personnel at road construction sites, the customs authorities, the operating personnel at rail crossings, the drivers of vehicles in the public service on mountain roads are binding for the behavior on the road.

The signs and instructions of other persons must be obeyed if they are given to avert a danger or to regulate a difficult traffic situation.

When the traffic is controlled by the police, the road users have to wait for their signal, except when they are in a moving column and as long as no stop signal is given.

Holding up one arm means: stop before the junction for all directions

Extending one arm means: stop for traffic coming from behind

Extending both arms sideways means: Stop for traffic coming from the rear and the front

Waving means: Free movement in the corresponding direction

Up and down movement of the arm means: Slowing down of the movement

Signals and markings as well as the instructions of the police must be obeyed. The signals and markings take precedence over the general rules, and the instructions of the police take precedence over the general rules, signals and markings.
