Tunnel

Tunnel Regulations

  • Reversing and turning are prohibited in tunnels.
  • Overtaking multi-lane motor vehicles is not allowed in areas where there is only one lane of traffic.
  • Drivers of motor vehicles and bicycles must switch on their dipped headlights, even if the tunnel is illuminated.

  • Vehicle drivers must stop in tunnels only in emergencies. The engine must be switched off immediately.
  • The “Tunnel” signal indicates that special traffic rules apply within the tunnel.
  • The “Maximum height” signal prohibits vehicles with a height (including load) exceeding the indicated value from entering. This signal is placed in front of underpasses, tunnels, galleries, and similar structures where vehicles taller than 4 meters cannot pass safely. It also serves as a distant signal at the last opportunity to bypass the obstacle.
