Securing the vehicle

The driver must secure the vehicle appropriately before leaving it

The driver must turn off the engine when leaving the vehicle. Before leaving, he must secure it against rolling away and against use by unauthorized persons

On downhill slopes, the brake must be applied and another effective means of preventing the vehicle from rolling away must be used, such as engaging the lowest gear or deflecting the wheels against an obstacle on the side of the road.

On steep slopes, the wagons must also be secured with chocks or makeshift supports. In the case of heavy motor vehicles, trailers and detached trailers, chocks must also be used on gentle slopes. The pads must be removed from the road before driving off.
