Securing the vehicle
Securing the Vehicle
- The driver must secure the vehicle properly before leaving it.
- The engine must be turned off when exiting the vehicle.
- Before leaving, the driver should ensure the vehicle is secured against rolling away and unauthorized use.
Securing Vehicles on Slopes
- On downhill slopes, the brake must be applied, and an additional method to prevent the vehicle from rolling away should be used. This can include:
- Engaging the lowest gear.
- Deflecting the wheels against an obstacle on the roadside.
- On steep slopes, wagons must also be secured with chocks or makeshift supports.
- For heavy motor vehicles, trailers, and detached trailers:
- Chocks should be used even on gentle slopes.
- Remember to remove the chocks from the road before driving off.
