What do you need to study for the moped test?

Right of way

Right of Way Rules

  • Right before left at uncontrolled intersections
  • Priority roads and the "No priority" sign
  • Roundabout: priority for vehicles already in the roundabout
  • Emergency vehicles with blue lights and sirens
  • Pedestrian crossings: priority for pedestrians

Special Right of Way Rules

  • Entering main roads: always yield
  • Trams: priority over mopeds and bicycles
  • Mountain roads: uphill traffic has priority
  • Police officer signals override all other signals

E-Bike

E-Bike

  • Slow e-bikes (up to 25 km/h): from age 16 without licence, from age 14 with Cat. M
  • Fast e-bikes (up to 45 km/h): Cat. M licence, helmet and registration plate required
  • Slow e-bikes MUST use signed cycle paths and lanes
  • Fast e-bikes may be exempt from the cycle path obligation depending on signage
  • All e-bikes: daytime running lights required (Art. 30 para. 2 VRV)

  • Mopeds MUST use signed cycle paths (Art. 46 para. 1 SVG)
  • Mopeds MUST use cycle lanes on the roadway
  • Shared pedestrian/cycle path: mopeds must use it
  • Exception: additional symbol "Moped prohibited" — road use applies
  • Additional symbol "Moped optional" — the moped may choose

Traffic signals

Traffic Control / Signals

  • Red: Stop — also for mopeds
  • Green arrow: drive only in the indicated direction
  • Amber: stop if safely possible — do not accelerate
  • Flashing amber: caution, observe right of way rules
  • Traffic lights take precedence over road markings
